Diet Results

Well. Overall a major success.  By day 4 (after the diet) hubby had dropped 7.2 lbs and I dropped 8.4 lbs!

I was very pleasantly surprised.  I had assumed I would lose about 4 lbs, so to double that made me quite happy.

After Day 1 I had felt great. I stuck to the diet exactly.  By the afternoon of Day 2, I was feeling extremely weak and lightheaded. I also had a very fussy baby, and was concerned about him getting enough food.  I added up the calories and realized this diet has you eat only about 1,000 calories a day.  Which is fine for a "normal" person wanting to lose weight, but I decided I better up my calories by a bit since my K-bear was depending on me for his nourishment as well.  I stuck to the basic meal plan, but added a 4th meal in on Day 2 & 3 and ate a little more during dinner.  I'm VERY proud of the hubby who stuck strictly to the diet for all 3 days.

So even with added calories I was very excited to see that baby weight coming off!  Here's to another week of success.

I'm adding in a little more aerobic activity; hubby and I are still doing NO sugar; and eating healthy and reasonable portion sizes.

Day 1 Complete

Day 1 of our complete body make over is down now on to day 2!  I'm trying out this 3-day Military Diet that I found on pinterest.  You can CLICK HERE to see the site and read more about it.  I'm not sure how legit it is, but everything I know about health and diet seems to add up.  It's a very low calorie shock diet, that they claim is the perfect mix of nutrients to create huge weight loss.  I'm just adjusting it a little bit to fit my diet, (vegetarian and breast-feeding right now).  I'm hoping that I don't end up cutting too many calories that it effects my milk supply for my newest little man right now, but that it pulls from my giant fat stores and helps cut some weight . . . I'm going to be drinking a BUNCH of water all day long.

Here's my meal plans for Day 1:
(click the link above to see the original diet plan)

Breakfast:
1 Grapefruit
1 slice of whole wheat toast with:
2 TBSP of Peanut Butter
1 cup of sugar-free Hot Chocolate

Lunch:
1/2 Cup Tofu
1 slice whole wheat toast
1 Crystal Light Energy drink

Dinner:
1 soy Boca Chicken Patty
1 cup green beans
1/2 Banana
1 Apple

1 cup of Vanilla Ice Cream

I'm Back!

Well hello!  I'm very excited to be back and ready to begin training and getting back in shape :)  I had a very good pregnancy.  The only hiccup was my thyroid went nuts and I ended up gaining a lot of weight.  So all the more reason for me to be excited to start training again!

The hubby gained some sympathy weight, so he's starting a program with me too.  We will be starting next Monday, with a basic daily workout plan and diet; thanks to Pinterest!!

Surprise News!

Well there has been a reason I've disappeared for a month . . . . as it turn out . . . . I'm pregnant!  We couldn't be more excited, but obviously that means some adjustments to my race plans this year.  I'm due in the middle of September.

Right now, my plan is to still do the April Triathlon, as a relay.  I decided that where I am NOT an avid runner, that trying to run and train through my pregnancy wasn't the best idea....but swimming, YEAH!  I plan on swimming this entire pregnancy.  The water feels incredible when you are pregnant. I swam and did water aerobics while pregnant with my other two.  I love it because the water makes you feel weightless and like you can still do anything.

Anyway, I felt like I could still swim and bike.  So for now, I am still training in those two areas to compete in my Triathlon!  It would make me feel so incredible to be able to still complete that portion of the race, and also feel like my racing season wasn't a total bust!  So for all my runner friends out there, I may be looking for a counter-part to run the 5K portion of my relay!

Let the Training Begin!

Today I officially started training for the April Triathlon :)  I went on a great bike ride!  The weather is beautiful today, even though it's a little bit on the cold side.  I had forgotten about windchill factor and had to turn around and come back home to get a scarf and gloves, after that it was a wonderful ride!

I went 6miles in 30min.  The route I pick is a bit hard, it starts down hill.  I did the first 3 miles in just over 10min and the way back took almost double the time because it was back uphill.  But I feel great and it was exciting to be out and about.  We still have had next to no snow this year which is so wierd for us, but I'm enjoying being able to train!

Tomorrow morning I'm going to go swimming!

Swimming, water, swimming

I have officially decided that swimming is my ABSOLUTE favorite kind of work out!  I SOOOOOOO wish I had a pool closer to where I lived, I would seriously swim everyday.  There is something so refreshing about the water, you don't feel exhausted and gross, you feel clean and refreshed after a workout.  Plus, it's a dang good workout!  Talk about every muscle in your body having to work together!

I recently invested in a kick-board and a pull-buoy, new swim suit, new goggles, and a swim cap.  Boy am I official now!  I really want to work on improving my endurance and technique this year.  I'm aiming for a once a week swim (pathetic I know, but when the pool is 40min away).

I was meant to be a fish (maybe dolphin, they sound better) in another life.  I just wish I would have had more opportunity growing up, or a possible high school swim team or something, because I seriously LOVE swimming (have you figured that out from this post yet), but I really need some proper instruction.  My technique sucks!

Well, here's to improvement!

PS. Did I mention, I got to swim with a dolphin in Hawaii this summer?
